                                LEMON CHICKEN

How often we bachelors need some sort of non-veg snacks with our booze. Every time going for chicken tikka or chicken tandoori is not possible. The tikkas and tandoori often have a spicy flavor and does make a hole in our pocket if bought from a reputed restaurant. So, here I am going to give you a recipe that is cheap, tasty and quite lighter for you liver.

Ingredients (For 1 Kg Chicken):
  • 1 Kg Chicken (Medium sized Piece). Wash the chicken properly. Put in some turmeric powder while washing. It will help in cleaning the chicken properly.

Let's give that chicken some consolation by washing him properly :P.

  • 300-400 grams of Green onion finely chopped (If Green onion is not available or you are too lazy to move your ass off, normal onion will also do.
  • Powdered Black pepper (Use home crushed pepper only, it has a unique flavor that ready-made cannot give). Even crushed black pepper will do magic too.
  • Lemon juice of 4-5 large lemons.
  • Ginger-Garlic paste (2 teaspoons).
  • 3-4 Large Spoons Butter (Make sure to use butter or refined oil. If cooked in Mustard oil, it will leave a strong smell and may not taste that good).
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder.
  • Salt to taste.

NOW LET'S GET DOWN TO THE MAIN BUSINESS!!! :) :)

Procedure:-

  • Heat a frying pan properly, make sure it is properly heated else spices will stick to the base (If    not heated well then the spices will begin to stick to the base).
  • Put some butter and heat it till it melt. Pour in the Butter. Let it heat for few seconds.

Add some butter or if you like it more then you are free to add as much you can digest. After all  few extra calories won't hurt..

  • Add spring onions once you are sure butter is properly heated, add salt as per your  taste. (Please note: this is one and only time you are adding salt, so put as much salt you need for the whole dish).

As i mentioned, it is quite hard to find green onion :P. Salt to taste added.  It helps in saute onions quickly.

  •  Sauté the onions for few minutes till it get translucent. When the onion changes to translucent state, add ginger-garlic paste to it.

Saute the onion till it change to translucent and slight brown. Key here is to see if  oil is getting separated from onions or not.

Add 2 Teaspoons of Ginger-garlic paste. Again , if you can peel few garlic on your own and crush them. It will taste much better. Home-made things always ROCK!!!

  • Sauté the mixture for few minutes until the raw smell of Ginger-garlic paste in gone. Because you don't want ginger and garlic's taste to rule over Lemon's taste. In the end it is Lemon chicken , so taste has to go with name, right?

Saute the mixture well  until the raw smell of Ginger-garlic paste is completely gone.

  •              Add chicken and mix well in the pan. Keep it cooking till the water separates from chicken. Covering the pan with the lid helps chicken cook fast.

Add the Chicken and  mix it well.

Here goes the turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon will do. Mix it well.

Remember, "the best way to cook is don't cook" . The more head you will put in the cooking, the more messier it will get. So, just lower down the flame. wait for sometime. Watch EPL,IPL,LA-LIGA or whatever can keep you busy during the time chicken gets cooked.

I am sure you must be having some impatient friends, roomies who will push you to check again and again that it is cooked or not. Ask them to keep calm and trust your cooking :P.

Cover the pan with lid and let it cook on low flame.

Remove the lid after 15-20 minutes. If you can see the water is separating then you are doing it all right.

Check if the chicken is tendered or not. If  it is then it's matter of  few minutes.Get prepared to release your taste buds now.

Now you can ask your friends to take out the glasses and get ready to have a blast.

  • Add 3-4 teaspoons of lime juice.
  • Make sure the flame is set low while adding the lemon juice.
  • You can now smell the tanginess of lemon. Add 3-4 teaspoons of powdered black pepper. Mix it well with chicken & Sauté it for a minute.

Add 3-4 Teaspoon of lime juice and sprinkle some Black pepper powder. Mix it well.

Keep mixing it well. Now you must be smelling that lime flavor mixed with pepper.  Great, isn't it?

  • Turn the flame off. Add 1-2 teaspoon of lemon juice over it and mix it well. If you like more sour in taste then add some more (The More the merrier).

Now, Your Lemon Chicken is ready. You may serve it as snacks with your drink or with chapatti over dinner.
Enjoy the drink!!!!

Trust me, It tastes as good as it looks :P.  SUJIT, Nice click though!!
